Vikings won't have Alex Boone or Eric Kendricks Sunday

Concussions to keep Vikings Alex Boone and Eric Kendricks out of Sunday's game.

The Minnesota Vikings' efforts to turn around their two-game losing streak and protect their quarterback have taken another big hit.

The Vikings announced both left guard Alex Boone and linebacker Eric Kendricks have been declared out for their game on Sunday against the Detroit Lions.

The team says both Boone and Kendricks suffered concussions in Minnesota's Monday loss to Chicago. Neither practiced all week.

Boone is also dealing with shoulder and knee injuries. His absence makes an already injury-depleted Vikings offensive line even thinner. Minnesota is currently averaging a league-worst 2.7 yards per carry and Sam Bradford has been sacked 11 times in their last two games.

Only two starters who opened the season up front for Minnesota are still healthy: center Joe Berger and right guard Brandon Fusco.

Jeremiah Sirles is likely to get the start on Sunday in Boone's place at left guard.

Kendricks' loss is also likely to hurt the Vikings defense. He did not miss a snap against the Bears Sunday night, Pro Football Talk notes it will be the first time he misses a game this season.
