Zach Parise is hoping for a healthy season after a back injury forced him out of the playoffs last season.

There's some good news for the Minnesota Wild.

Forward Zach Parise is back to his goal-scoring ways after he missed the playoffs last season with a herniated disc in his back.

Parise was back on the ice for Team USA in their pre-tournament World Cup of Hockey games over the weekend and it didn't take him long to regain the form that made him Minnesota's leading goal-scorer last season.

Parise scored the first U.S. goal of the event Friday night in Columbus in a game against Canada.

Parise led the Wild with 25 goals last season. He was also second on the team in total points with 53 as he added another 28 assists while playing in just 70 games.

He played nearly half the season with the herniated disc in his back.

The good news, according to the Star Tribune, is that Parise says he isn't suffering any lingering issues from the ailment.

NBC Sports notes that Parise chose to avoid surgery for the herniated disc in his back, instead opting to rehabilitate the injury.
