WCHA: Mankato beats Brown; Ferris State shuts down UMD

Minnesota State, Mankato improved to 11-6-2 Saturday with a 3-1 win over Brown at the UConn Hockey Classic, The Associated Press reports.

J.P. Lafontaine led scoring for Mankato with two goals in the third period to help secure the win for the Mavericks.

Six different players for Ferris State, meanwhile, each scored a goal to top University of Minnesota Duluth 6-2 in the consolation game of the Florida Saturday, reports The AP.

Adam Krause and Caleb Hebert each scored a goal for UMD to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 after the first period, but it was all But Ferris State from there to drop UMD's to 7-10-3.

Saturday night, the Gophers blanked Air Force in the Mariucci Classic 4-0.
