Gophers tally another shutout
The Gopher Women came out strong in the first two periods and then held the line, willing themselves to a 2-0 victory over the North Dakota Fighting Hawks. Minnesota made effective use of the power play to get their first goal after senior forward Amanda Kessel drew the penalty call. Sophomore Sydney Baldwin quickly made good on the advantage and the Gophers took an early lead.
Minnesota kept pressure on the Hawks for the majority of the game, and it showed in the box score. The Gophers had a lopsided advantage in shots on goal, 34 to UND's 21.
Senior goalie Amanda Leveille made 21 saves for the Gopher's 12 shutout of the season. The Gophers have yet to allow a goal in the 2016 WCHA Finals tournament.
The Gophers will face off against the rival Wisconsin Badgers for the WCHA Championship tomorrow in Ridder Arena at 2pm.
