WCHA: UMD, SCSU net weekend sweeps

A third period goal from senior winger Mike Seidel gave Minnesota Duluth a 2-1 victory over Alaska Anchorage Saturday night, the News Tribune reports. The Bulldogs beat Alaska Anchorage 5-1 on Friday. This was UMD's first sweep of the season and first sweep in Anchorage since 1996.

The St. Cloud State University men's hockey team beat Colorado College 3-1 at the National Hockey to sweep the Tigers, the St. Cloud Times reports. The Huskies moved into first place in the WCHA standings with 18 points heading into the holiday break.

Bemidji State University propelled past No. 10 University of Denver 5-1 on Saturday. The Beavers battled back for a 1-1 tie on Friday.

Nebraska-Omaha coasted to a 5-1 win over Minnesota State-Mankato Saturday after taking a three-goal lead into the third period. The Mavericks earned a 6-3 win over No. 13 Nebraska-Omaha on Friday night.
