White Sox, Dunn, bomb Twins, 12-5

Adam Dunn broke out of his slump and cracked a three-run homer to help the White Sox club the Twins at Target Field. Minnesota lost two of three in the series, falling 9.5 games behind Chicago in the AL Central race.

MINNEAPOLIS -- Adam Dunn hit an opposite-field three-run homer, his 24th of the year, to lead the Chicago White Sox over the Twins, 12-5, Wednesday at Target Field. On the afternoon, the Twins gave up a season-high 21 hits.

Twins starter Nick Blackburn went five innings, giving up six runs to pick up the loss. Blackburn, now 4-5 on the year, also gave up a solo homer to Alex Rios.

Chicago lefthander Chris Sale -- a candidate to start the All-Star game for the American League -- improved to 9-2 on the year, pitching seven innings.

Before Monday night, the last time Francisco Liriano pitched against the White Sox in Chicago, he threw a no-hitter. It was almost nothing but hits Monday night, however, as the trade commodity allowed seven earned runs in 2.2 innings -- his worst start since returning from the minors in May.

White Sox hand Twins 80th loss of the season

The White Sox clipped the Twins 4-2 Monday night in Chicago. Despite allowing just two runs over six innings, Twins' starter Samuel Deduno took the loss. Chicago has won 10 of 13 games against Minnesota this season.
