Who else might the Twins trade for pitchers?

Author:

Major League Baseball executives, agents, players and media are gathering in Nashville for the annual Winter Meetings Dec. 3-6, so trade deals are coming soon.

The Minnesota Twins already made a move to strengthen the team's pitching squad in trading outfielder Denard Span to the Washington Nationals for 6-foot-9 pitching prospect Alex Meyer. The Star Tribune asks: Why stop there?

The Twins say they would be willing to mull offers for anyone on their roster, including Justin Morneau, Josh Willingham – and even Joe Mauer, the newspaper reports.

The team is scouting pitchers with several starting-rotation holes to fill (only left-hander Scott Diamond is likely guaranteed a spot in the rotation next year), MLB.com notes.

The Twins are likely to seek out affordable starters like Shaun Marcum, Joe Saunders, Brandon McCarthy or Joe Blanton, MLB.com says. Minnesota has also recently been linked to pitchers Brett Myers and former Twins left-hander Francisco Liriano.
