Wild and defenseman Matt Dumba agree on a 2-year contract

The Minnesota Wild have signed another one of their free agents.

The Wild announced that they have agreed to terms on a contract with restricted free-agent defenseman Matt Dumba. The Wild say the two-year deal will pay Dumba $5.1 million.


Dumba, 22, recorded 26 points (10 goals, 16 assists) in 81 games for the Wild last year – totaling career highs in several categories including games played, goals, assists and points.

He is especially known for his powerful slap shot.


Dumba was selected by the Wild in the first round, No. 7 overall, in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
