Thomas Vanek will play in tonight's monster game against the Calgary Flames. His status was in doubt after he missed practice on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Wild called up 25-year-old forward Michael Keranen from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League and he could debut against the Flames.
Keranen ranks second on the Wild's farm club with 32 points (9 goals, 23 assists) in 52 games this season.
"He’s been very, very good for us down here for, geez, a month or two," Wild Director of Minor-League Personnel Jim Mill said in a phone interview with the Star Tribune. "He was always fine, but his game has gotten better specifically over the last month."
Keranen was a high-level scorer last season playing in the Finnish Elite League. His 52 points (17 goals) were tied for the league lead.
The Wild and Flames drop the puck in Calgary at 8:30 p.m. Minnesota is three points behind San Jose for the last wild-card spot, and four points behind Calgary and Vancouver for the 6th and 7th seeds. The Kings are also one point ahead of the Wild.
