The Minnesota Wild's offense erupted in a 5-3 win over Colorado at the Xcel Energy Center Thursday night. It was Minnesota's first five-goal game of the season.

Torrey Mitchell got the scoring started with his second goal of the season at the 3:04 mark of the first period. Colorado tied the game later in the period, and the score remained, 1-1 into the second period.

That's when Devin Setoguchi gave the Wild a 2-1 with his seventh goal of the season. Less than two minutes later Jonas Brodin found the back of the net for his first career goal, putting the Wild up, 3-1.

23 seconds later the Avalanche again made it a one goal game, 3-2. A little more than a minute after that, the Wild's captain Mikko Koivu scored to provide another two-goal cushion.

Koivu would add an empty-net goal in the waning moments of the third period, securing the 5-3 win.

The Wild is now 14-10-2. They are tied with Vancouver at 30 points, but the Canucks hold the tiebreaker over Minnesota having played one less game.
