Wild place Koivu on IR, recall Taffe

The Minnesota Wild has placed captain Mikko Koivu on injured reserve. Koivu injured his leg in the Wild's shootout loss to the Blackhawks last week. The move is retroactive to Wednesday, so he can be activated at any time if he feels he can play. The team recalled forward Jeff Taffe to fill Koivu's roster spot.

Koivu to return to Wild lineup

Josh Harding stopped all four of the Flames' shootout attempts and Devin Setoguchi scored the shootout winner as the Wild beat Calgary, 3-2 Thursday night. Dany Heatley and Darrell Powe also scored for Minnesota. Mikko Koivu played for the first time in over a month. He finished with five shots in 22 minutes.

Wild needs captain Koivu back

Mikko Koivu's lower-body injury might be the biggest reason why the Wild is in the midst of a season-worst slump. The team captain had scored in 13 of his past 14 games before being injured against the Blackhawks. Without Koivu, the Wild has a total of two goals in three games.

Wild's Koivu out another two weeks

Mikko Koivu will be shut down for two weeks after aggravating a shoulder injury that forced him to miss eight games earlier this season. The Wild's captain re-injured his shoulder in a loss to Columbus on Feb. 11.
