The Minnesota Wild has been in discussions with the St. Paul mayor's office about the possibility of building a practice arena in a 290-spot parking lot located next to the Xcel Energy Center. The city had plans for the space in 2008 that fell through in the down economy and says they want to make sure whatever goes into the space would be profitable enough to cover debt payments.

Guillaume Latendresse returns to Wild practice

After missing 32 of the last 34 games with a concussion, Guillaume Latendresse has returned to practice with the Wild. Xcel Energy Center undergoes first major upgrade

The Minnesota Wild is investing about $1 million to build two-dozen loge boxes at the St. Paul arena, the Business Journal reports. The four-person upscale boxes are priced at about $50,000 per year, compared to $180,000 for a suite. The new premium seating is expected to be ready for the hockey team's first preseason game on Sept. 26.
