The Minnesota Wild has the weekend off and many of the team's players will spending the holiday relaxing. While some will be home with their families, many will be staying in Minnesota spending time with teammates. Defenseman Marco Scandella will join Matt Cullen's family. Scandella says the guys in the locker room are just like family because of how close they are.

Wild reassigns four defensemen to Houston

The Minnesota Wild’s season came to an end on Saturday but four of its defensemen were reassigned to the Houston Aeros of the AHL. Marco Scandella, Nate Prosser, Chey Genoway and Kris Fredheim are eligible to play the rest of the season, and playoffs if the Aeros reach the postseason.

San Jose jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first three-and-a-half minutes of the game, and went up 3-2 in the third period on former Wild star Brent Burns’ 10th goal of the season. But Matt Cullen tied the score at three, and less than 80 seconds later Jed Ortmeyer scored the game-winner -- his first goal of the season.

Koivu the latest Wild player injured

Considering how many injuries the Wild has suffered, it's amazing they lead the NHL in points. Mikko Koivu, the captain, is the latest to go down with an injury. The team says the injury isn't serious, but wouldn't provide further details.

Cullen ready for game No. 1,000

Minnesota Wild forward Matt Cullen will play game No. 1,000 of his career Tuesday night when the Wild hosts the San Jose Sharks. The Virginia, Minnesota native says he has "a lot of good memories" and he's "enjoyed every minute of it." Cullen's teammates are calling him 'old goat.'

Wild players and top prospects playing in World Championship in Finland

The 2012 IIHF World Championship is being played in Finland and Sweden starting Friday, and members of the Minnesota Wild are participating. Goalie Matt Hackett is playing for Canada, Mikko Koivu and prospect Mikael Granlund are with Finland and 2011 first-round pick Jonas Brodin is representing Sweden.
