Wild players excited for Christmas

The Minnesota Wild has the weekend off and many of the team's players will spending the holiday relaxing. While some will be home with their families, many will be staying in Minnesota spending time with teammates. Defenseman Marco Scandella will join Matt Cullen's family. Scandella says the guys in the locker room are just like family because of how close they are.

Wild defender Scandella joins Latendresse with concussion

Defenseman Marco Scandella suffered a concussion Saturday night against Los Angeles, and was scratched from the Wild lineup against Anaheim tonight. It was the second straight game a key Minnesota player sustained a concussion. Guillaume Latendresse suffered one against San Jose on Thursday.

Wild reassigns four defensemen to Houston

Marco Scandella was informed Monday that he was being sent back to the Wild's AHL affiliate in Houston. Head coach Mike Yeo said Scandella "shrunk" a little bit after each mistake he's made during the Wild's slump. Yeo hopes a trip back to the minors will help Scandella's confidence.

Considering how many injuries the Wild has suffered, it's amazing they lead the NHL in points. Mikko Koivu, the captain, is the latest to go down with an injury. The team says the injury isn't serious, but wouldn't provide further details.

Wild beats Burns, Sharks with two late goals

The Minnesota Wild came back twice on Sunday to beat the Sharks, 4-3 at the X. San Jose jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first three-and-a-half minutes of the game, and went up 3-2 in the third period on former Wild star Brent Burns’ 10th goal of the season. But Matt Cullen tied the score at three, and less than 80 seconds later Jed Ortmeyer scored the game-winner -- his first goal of the season.
