Minnesota Wild defensive Jared Spurgeon has agreed to a four year, $20.75 million contract, the team announced Monday afternoon.
The 26-year-old has 4 goals and 12 assists this season and has a plus-4 rating this season; he leads the team with 65 blocked shots.
Spurgeon was one of the key players the Wild is considering re-signing before they could become restricted free agents at the end of the season. The others are defenseman Matt Dumba and winger Jason Zucker. Zucker's reps have been involved with the Wild in preliminary contract talks, the Star Tribune recently reported.
Goalie Darcy Kuemper can also become a restricted free agent at the end of the season.
