Wild free-agent frenzy: sign Granlund, Prosser, Carter, Reilly

Author:

The Minnesota Wild didn't waste any time putting pen to paper when the NHL's free-agent signing period began at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The team immediately announced two-year deals with winger Mikael Granlund, Elk River native/defenseman Nate Prosser and ex-Gophers defenseman and All-American Mike Reilly. They also signed forward Ryan Carter to a one-year deal.

Pierre LeBrun reports that Granlund received a $6 million deal. He'll make $2.8 million 2015-16 and $2.8 million in 2016-17.

Reilly's deal was confirmed late last week but couldn't be made official until the signing period began; Granlund's deal was "very close" earlier Wednesday, according to General Manager Chuck Fletcher, who was on the radio with Michael Russo of the Star Tribune on KFAN.

Granlund had 8 goals and 31 assists in 68 games as a 23-year-old playing on Minnesota's top line for much of last season. Reilly led the all Division I defenseman in scoring before forgoing his senior season at the University of Minnesota.
