Wild vs. Colorado: Season opener preview

Author:

Hockey Day Minnesota closes with the beginning of a new NHL season Saturday night at the X when the Wild host the Colorado Avalanche.

It marks the official beginning of an era of Wild hockey with $196 million worth of superstars, Zach Parise and Ryan Suter.

Parise, meanwhile, is keeping a close eye on the Gophers-North Dakota series taking place in Minneapolis.

Rookie Mathew Dumba made the team, but it's unlikely he'll play in the opener.

Fellow rookie Mikael Granlund sat down with the Pioneer Press and revealed that his favorite cartoon growing up was Donald Duck.
