Will the big fight happen? You can bet on Mayweather-McGregor

People betting on Mayweather-McGregor fight despite it not being official yet.

The fight once seemed like a fantasy of sorts, but more and more evidence continues to indicate a potential McGregor-Mayweather bout will happen. Although it is yet to become official, thousands of dollars are already being bet on the outcome by some Las Vegas sports books.

"Most fights that are not official don't garner much handle until officially becoming announced," SuperBook assistant manager Jeff Sherman told ESPN. "I'm not surprised by the McGregor support, just that it has come without an official fight announcement."

Evidence certainly seems to be mounting that points towards the fight taking place in the near future.

In March, UFC President Dana White, on an appearance on the Conan O'Brien Show, said, "I think the fight will happen."

Just this week, he elaborated on some of the logistics: "It depends on how much the fight sells," White said, according to ABC News. "If the fight sells as well as I think it can, Floyd makes a little north of $100 [million] and Conor makes $75 [million]."

The potential fight has the nation champing at the bit to see what will happen when you stick a one of the greatest ultimate fighters in the ring with one of the greatest boxers of all time.

Oddsmakers opened betting of the fight on Monday, with Mayweather -1,300 and McGregor +800. Limits are currently $10,000.
