Wisconsin rallies from 2-0 deficit to tie Gophers
The game officially ended a 2-2 tie, but the Badgers picked up the extra point by edging Minnesota in the shootout. This one stung some for the Gophers, who failed to hold on to a 2-0 lead in the third period.
Grant Besse scored at the 11:09 mark of the third to get the Badgers on the scoreboard. Then just about two minutes later Jedd Soleway evened up the score at two.
Minnesota outshot the Badgers 49-20, but Badgers goaltender Joel Rumpel closed the door after allowing the Gophers to take the early 2-0 lead.
Sam Warning and Hudson Fasching had the two goals for the Gophers.
The Gophers (10-7-2) and Badgers continue their series on Saturday.
