The WNBA said Friday a field goal by the Los Angeles Sparks late in Thursday's WNBA Finals win over Minnesota was actually a shot-clock violation.

The league put out this statement about the blown call, which happened with 1:14 left in the game:

Said Renee Brown, WNBA Chief of Basketball Operations and Player Relations: "After reviewing postgame video, we have determined that Nneka Ogwumike's shot with 1:14 remaining in regulation time should not have counted due to a shot-clock violation."

The video of Ogwumike hitting the jump shot can be found here. You can clearly see that she released the ball after the shot clock expired. Even the commentators said, "That one is going to be reviewed," but the play was not.

Funny enough, Ogwumike hit another go-ahead shot later in the game – with 3.1 seconds left – giving the Sparks the win.

Head coach Cheryl Reeve spoke about the missed call during the postgame press conference and claimed the league needs to step up and do something more than just issue an apology.

"It's not enough to just apologize and send out a memo, that they got something wrong," said Reeve. "These players are so invested and something must be done about the officiating in this league."
