Wolves run into Wall, drop third straight in Washington

The Timberwolves were no match for the red-hot Washington Wizards Tuesday night falling in the nation's capital 109-95.

It was the fifth straight victory for the Wizards and third straight loss for the Wolves.

Rasual Butler led the way in scoring for Washington with 23 points. He was 4-of-5 from behind the three-point line, but it was really John Wall's night. He scored 21 points and dished out 17 assists.

Thaddeus Young had one of the best games in his tenure with the Wolves. He led the team with 29 points, while knocking down 5-of-12 from the three-point line.

Shabazz Muhammed added 21 for Minnesota, but the only other Wolves player in double figures was Corey Brewer, who had 12 points and 12 rebounds for the double-double.

The Wizards pulled away early after Minnesota took a 2-0 lead with a 9-0 run and never looked back.

They pushed the lead to 11 by the end of the first quarter at 27-16. While Minnesota trimmed it some thanks to Young's big third quarter, Washington stepped on the accelerator again in the fourth to put the game away.

The Wolves (5-18) travel to Boston on Friday night to play the Celtics.
