Wolves vs. Heat: How they scored, etc...

LeBron James and the Miami Heat lit up the Target Center Friday night. Check out our as-it-happened blog for what went down during the game, and much more.

View from Section 136:

They're 0-2, and now it's time to bring on the Heat. The Miami Heat are in town tonight to take on the new-look Timberwolves. Stationed in the corner of Section 136, BMTN will let you know what's happening as it happens in our ongoing blog-o-commentary-whatever-you-want-to-call it. Here we go:

10:00:Here's a link to Coach Adelman's news conference after the game. He says it was tough loss for the Wolves, but gave his team "a lot of credit for the way they played tonight."

9:27: Ellington bounces one off the rim as time expires. Wolves look good, but fall to 0-3. LeBron James, celebrating his 27th birthday, scores 34.

9:26: Dywane Wade scores layup after sick pass from James. Check out the replay right here from NBA.com. With 4 seconds left, Heat up 103-101. Last chance for Wolves to tie coming up.

9:24: Tolliver -- again -- makes just one of two at the line with 8 seconds to go to tie it, 101-101.

9:22: Love this tweet from FNS's Anthony Maggio: "This is an emboldened Wolves squad. Fun to see them not hesitating in a close game against a big-time opponent."

9:20: Wade makes jumper to give Heat 101-100 lead with 33 seconds to go.

9:20: Tolliver misses key free throw. Wolves only up by one.

9:18: James makes three-point play to tie it. Crowd wanted offensive foul instead. King James is booed heartily by Wolves' subjects.

9:16: "RUBIO" chants erupt again as Ricky goes 1 for 2 at the line, Wolves up 99-96 with 1:12 to go. We're guessing plenty of man-crushes on Rubio are forming throughout Minnesota.

9:13: Rubio hits a three-pointer with 2:23 to go , Wolves up 98-94. Rubio has first NBA double-double: 11 points, 12 assists.

9:12: Why are Wolves in this one? Twin Cities sports sage Larry Fitzerald, Sr. says it's two words: "Rubio. Love."

9:08: Rubio takes down key rebound with Wolves up by 1. Love fouled by LeBron at the other end...Makes both...Wolves lead 95-92 with 3:22 left.

9:03: LeBron intercepts Rubio pass, says, "Gracias, Rook" (we're making that up)...and Heat take a 2-point lead with 5:00 to go.

9:02:CELEBRITY TWEET ALERT: Ben Revere, Twins speedster: "Wow look at the t wolves." Not much, but we agree.

9:01: Wolves take time out with 5:49 to go, game tied 88-88. Love checks back in for home stretch.

8:59: Crowd pumped after Williams gives Wolves five-point lead with jumper.

8:57: Best tweet so far, from StarTrib's Michael Rand, on Little Ricky: "And that's Rubio's 10th assist. Two more pts needed for double-double. Kid has a certain "it" factor. No denying it."

8:55: Rubio taking over game. Has 10 assists, last one to Ellington who hit a three to give Wolves 85-83 lead with 8:38 to go. Lots-o-time left, and to be honest, last year's squad would have been down by 20 at this point.

8:45: Some behind us yells, "You suck ref!" We're assuming it wasn't a media member.

8:44: James putting on clinic. Has 29 points so far, as Heat stretch it to 80-75.

8:36: A Cole to LeBron jam makes it 76-69 Heat. He's really good.

8:33: Cole to Wade alley-oop dunk is followed by LeBron monster dunk. Heat take 74-69 lead with 4:41 left in 3rd quarter. Wheels coming off? Rubio back soon?

8:25:  Love picks LeBron's pocket, and hits a layup on the other end. Wolves up 56-55.

8:21: Just handed second quarter stats. Wolves outscored Heat, 33-20 in second frame, but LeBron didn't play much.

8:06:Which brings up a great time to bring you this text, again from KFAN's "Tiny" Joe Nelson: "I hate that Adelman waits until the 3 minute mark of the first period to play Rubio. Just start the kid!"

8:06: "Ru-bee-o" chant breaks out when Wolves take the ball down the court again.
8:05: Rubio lofts one to Randolph who slams it home.

8:04: Rubio lays one in and gets fouled. Wolves take four point lead with 1:45 left.

8:03: Rubio follows with jumper as Wolves take 46-45 lead. Place, uh, howling -- big time.

8:02: Three pointer from Love makes it a 1-point game with 2:26 to go.

7:57: After two slick passes from Rubio (one that surprised Michael Beasley), Love tips one in to make it 45-41 Heat. With 3:34 left in half, crowd very happy local team in still in this game.

7:42: First qtr. stats handed out. Biggest number: James with 15 points...half of Miami's output.

7:28: "MVP" chant breaks out for Darko in section 118. We think they're kidding.

7:26: With 3:40 left in the first period, Ricky Rubio checks into the game. Huge pop from the crowd.

7:22: James has 6 so far. 42 to go.

7:14: Message from KFAN's "Tiny" Joe Nelson: "It's LeBron's birthday... he's going to score 50. He might beat the Wolves by himself."

7:11: Darko gets first basket. Wolves lead 2-0. Miami who?

7:10: Tip-off. Wolves control For now.

7:06: Lights out. Sellout crowd starts to howl. Again, music Metrodome loud. But no Led Zeppelin. As a result, writer doesn't recognize song.

7:03: LeBron James introduced. Draws a hearty amount of boos.

5:45: J.J. Barea out tonight...expected back against Mavs on New Year's Day.

5:30: Scalpers outside Target Center selling nosebleed seats for $25. That's $15 cheaper than opening night.
