World's top player, Dustin Johnson, injures back on eve of the Masters

The Masters is losing some serious star power.

First came word that Tiger Woods would miss the Masters, now it looks like the status of the world's No. 1 golfer is in doubt for one of golf's most awaited events.

According to an announcement from Dustin Johnson's agent, the favorite to win this year's Masters injured his back during a fall at his rental home in Augusta this afternoon.

Johnson was an 11-2 favorite to win the tournament which starts Thursday.

ESPN notes that what might help him is that he was already scheduled to be in the final group to hit the course. He is scheduled to play with two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson and Jimmy Walker.

Johnson has won three straight tournaments – including a pair of World Golf Championships – to rise to the world's No. 1 spot. If he is unable to play, Johnson would be only the fourth world's No. 1 player to miss a major tournament.
