You could win your own porta-potty by signing up for Twin Cities Marathon

Registration for the Twin Cities Marathon on Oct. 9 begins Tuesday – and if you sign up within the next week, you could win your own porta-potty at the starting line.

It's one of the unique perks race organizers are offering to encourage early registration before prices go up on Feb. 10.

“We know how important toilet availability is to runners before a race, and we realized this is something we could actually offer a runner,” Virginia Brophy Achman, the Executive Director of Twin Cities in Motion, which puts on the marathon, said in a statement to Runner's World. “It’s not difficult to manage one VIP portable restroom, and we thought runners would have fun vying for the prize.”

One runner who registers before 11:50 p.m. on Feb. 9 will win the grand prize VIP package, which includes the personal porta-potty at the starting line (you can share it with your friends, too) and two tickets to the VIP tent at the finish line, the Twin Cities Marathon website says.

And runners are liking the idea. Bart Yasso, CRO of Runner's World, tweeted every runner would love their own porta-potty at the starting line, adding his friend says the prize is "like gold."

Race organizers are also randomly selecting 500 runners, who will get a 26.2 sticker to show off their accomplishment.

Registration for the 35th running of the Twin Cities Marathon opens at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Click here for more information.
