Zach LaVine gives a shout-out to Wolves fans in his goodbye

But he's ready to go take over Chicago.

Timberwolves followers are rightfully excited about landing Jimmy Buckets, but it came at the cost of fan-favorite Zach LaVine.

The high-flying guard, who is going into his fourth pro season, got better and better in each of his three seasons with Minnesota. He averaged 18.9 points per game while shooting nearly 39 percent from behind the arc in 2016-17, before going down late in the season with a torn ACL.

Now he's, arguably, the face of the future for the Chicago Bulls. And he seems ready to go.

In posts on Instagram and Twitter Friday, LaVine wrote it's "a dream come true to play for and represent a historic franchise with the best fan base in the world!"

"Words can't express my excitement to start meeting my new teammates, members of the organization and all the fans!!!" he added, before finishing: "Let's get to work!"

But he didn't forget about Minnesota, and had some nice parting words.

"Thank you to the Twolves organization, teammates and fans these last three years. You have been nothing but supportive and I wish you guys all the best," he wrote.

Sure it's not quite as lengthy or emotional as Butler's farewell to Chicago – but LaVine's only been with the Wolves for three years. And Butler has gone to battle in Chicago for the past six seasons.

What about Kris Dunn?

One of the other big pieces of the trade was point guard Kris Dunn. He hasn't posted anything about the trade to Twitter yet. But it's too bad on the timing – he seemed like he was starting to really enjoy Minnesota.
