Vikings coach Mike Zimmer won't be on the sidelines at U.S. Bank Stadium Thursday night when the Vikings host his former team the Dallas Cowboys.

Zimmer is missing the game after an emergency surgery to repair a detached retina Wednesday night.

His heart, though, is obviously still with the team as evidenced by a text he sent to Vikings radio play-by-play man Paul Allen.

Vikings GM Rick Spielman says Thursday's game will be the first game Zimmer has ever missed in his NFL career.
