Deer crashes through window at UW-Stout

An 8-point buck being chased by a dog leapt through a window at the University of Wisconsin-Stout and tore down a hallway in the Vocational Rehabilitation building, the Associated Press reports. The animal escaped out an automatic door. One man had a minor injury after scrambling to get out of its way. The deer lost a lot of blood and officials tried to track it, but they never found it.

Caterpillar to close Minnesota forestry plant, cut 100 jobs

About 100 workers in southern Minnesota are looking for a new job after Caterpillar Inc. has announced it plans to close its forestry plant in Owatonna by March 2013, KARE 11 reports. Officials with the heavy equipment maker plan to keep some engineering work in the area.
