Three of Minnesota’s public gardens are among the best 200 in America, according to new rankings by Good Plant Care.

While public gardens in Hawaii took the top three spots, two of Minnesota’s gardens landed in the top 100.

Here is how Minnesota’s public gardens ranked:

  • No. 90 — Normandale Japanese Garden, Bloomington
  • No. 100 — Munsinger Gardens, St. Cloud
  • No. 186 — Marjorie McNeely Conservatory at Como Park, St. Paul

The rankings were derived from a survey of 3,000 adults this month, according to Good Plant Care.

Tucked-away at the Normandale Community College, the Japanese Garden is open to visitors year-round.

Designed by architect Takao Watanabe, the gardens feature koi, bridges and over 300 Minnesota-hardy plants, shrubs and trees.

The Munsinger Gardens in St. Cloud sits along the Mississippi River at the site of a former sawmill.

Visitors to the seasonal attraction can enjoy flower beds and winding pathways dappled in the shade of century-old Scotch and Norway pines.

In St. Paul, the Majorie McNeely Conservatory has welcomed the public to enjoy tropical plants year-round since 1915.

The crown jewel of Como Park, the conservatory is one of the few remaining Victorian-style glasshouses in North America.
